built 2004 |
The cat uses ten servos for the legs with a further two servos giving a pan & tilt action to the head plus one to move the tail up and down.
There are switches built into each front foot for contact sensing and the head has two cameras for eyes and in the nose is a high power LED. Obstacles can be detected by reading the eye-cameras with and without the LED on and comparing the values.
The wiskers are touch switches and there is a tap switch on the top of the head for rewarding or scolding behaviours.
The controller is a surface mount Scenix SX chip.
